Robert Trujillo’s 12-year-old son to play bass for Korn on South American tour

ABC/Randy HolmesPrepare for Baby Korn! Tye Trujillo, the 12-year-old song of Metallica‘s Robert Trujillo, will play bass with the nu-metallers on their upcoming South American tour in place of Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, who can’t make the trip due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

Tye, who also plays in a band called The Helmets, will handle bass duties in Korn for their shows this month in Columbia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru. Fieldy will reunite with the band during their set at the Carolina Rebellion festival on May 6.

“We are bummed Fieldy can’t join us on this run but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye,” Korn writes in a Facebook post. “We look forward to welcoming our brother Fieldy back when we return to the States in May.”

Meanwhile, Tye’s father will be on tour with Metallica in support of their new album Hardwired…to Self-Destruct this summer starting May 10 in Baltimore.
