Listen to Pearl Jam cover country singer Brandi Carlile for benefit album

Legacy RecordingsPearl Jam has shared their cover of “Again Today,” a track originally recorded by country singer Brandi Carlile.

Eddie Vedder and company bring their signature grungy sound to the song, though some of the original’s twang still shines through. You can listen to the “Again Today” cover now via Pitchfork.com.

The “Again Today” cover appears on a benefit album titled Cover Stories: Brandi Carlile Celebrates 10 Years of The Story, a compilation of different artists recording songs from Carlile’s 2007 album The Story. All proceeds from Cover Stories will be donated to War Child UK, a charity organization that supports children affected by and living in areas of conflict and war.

Other artists contributing to Cover Stories, which will be released May 5, include pop star Adele, country legend Dolly Parton, My Morning Jacket‘s Jim James and The Avett Brothers. Former president Barack Obama penned a foreword for the album.

Pearl Jam will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this Friday, April 7 during a ceremony in Brooklyn, New York. David Letterman will induct the band, filling in for Neil Young, who’s sick.
