“Believe” it: Imagine Dragons dethrone Twenty One Pilots from top of “Billboard” Hot Rock Songs chart

KIDinaKORNER/Interscope RecordsTwenty One Pilots‘ record-breaking run atop Billboard‘s Hot Rock Songs chart has come to an end, thanks to Imagine Dragons. The Las Vegas band’s new single “Believer” has taken the number-one spot on the chart after the Columbus, Ohio duo’s “Heathens” ruled the tally for 30 weeks.

“Believer” is just the second non-Twenty One Pilots song to reach the top of Hot Rock Songs in 14 months. Since January 9, 2016, either “Heathens,” “Stressed Out” or “Ride” has sat at number one on the tally.  The one exception? The chart week dated May 14, when Prince posthumously topped Hot Rock Songs with “Purple Rain” following his death on April 21.

With its 30-week run, “Heathens” broke the record previously set by Walk the Moon‘s “Shut Up and Dance,” which spent 27 weeks atop Hot Rock Songs in 2015.

“Believer” is the first single from Imagine Dragons’ forthcoming third album, the follow-up to their 2015 sophomore effort, Smoke + Mirrors.
