Primus lines up summer tour with Clutch

Tim Mosenfelder/Getty ImagesWith a new album in the pipeline, Primus has lined up a series of summer concert dates.

According to Rolling Stone, the loopy prog-rock trio led by singer/bassist Les Claypool will kick things off July 17 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the trek through an August 18 hometown date in Berkeley, California. Ticket information is available at the Primusville website.

Opening the show will be Maryland-based rockers Clutch. Frontman Neil Fallon says, “We’ve heard from countless fans that have wanted to see that bill…Needless to say, we’re thrilled to finally go out with Primus this summer. Good times!”

Primus is currently working on a new album set for release sometime this year. Their last studio disc was 2014’s Willy Wonka-inspired Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble.
